Find Yourself

And Serve With Others.

At Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, there are many options to do good and do well at the same time.  Join us as we serve the community.

Community Outreach

SOCIAL MINISTRY
The Social Ministry at Good Shepherd sponsors programs and activities for members of the congregation to serve the wider community.  Check our events calendar to participate!
FOOD PANTRY
Our food pantry is filled by our parishioners and other faithful community members.  It is open from 10 a.m. to noon on every third and fourth Saturday of the month. The fourth Saturday of the month a hot breakfast is also available. Click Here for more information about this mission.

CHOWDER [SEPTEMBER – April]
The Chowder Ministry provides chowder to our food pantry and is available for sale to the community. Chowder is sold on the third Saturday of the month and made the day before.

We would like to thank Lutheran Charities for their grant to purchase a new refrigerator and freezer to facilitate our chowder ministry!

GRIEFSHARE
Good Shepherd sponsors GriefShare support groups for members of the congregation and for the community at large. Our goal is to provide support and understanding to those who suffer from the pain felt from the loss of a loved one.

The scheduled 16-week course offers the bereaved an opportunity to read, watch videos on the different aspects of grief, and to share their journey with others.

GriefShare sessions are typically posted in advance. If nothing is currently scheduled, you can find more information at griefshare.org.

Committees & Groups

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Christian Ed at Good Shepherd caters to ages 3 – 12. We study the word of God through the Sparks Bible and have the kids learn through skits, crafts, games and weekly discussions. Each year we conduct a Halloween Party, St. Nicholas Day, perform a Christmas Pageant, help out with fundraisers and make cards and prayers for the shut ins.

GOD TALK
Join our evening conversation group where we discuss faith, life, traditions, and beliefs in a safe and respectful setting.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY
Dive into the scriptures, explore biblical literature and themes, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your faith.

BOOK CLUB
At the Good Shepherd Book Club, members choose a different book to read each month and then meet to discuss the story, analyze characters, and share reader responses. All are welcome to join the Book Club at any time!

WORSHIP & MUSIC
Many of our parishioners enjoy making music, creating art, and telling stories. Together, we make creative opportunities and spiritual connections accessible to parishioners of all ages.

STEWARDSHIP
Stewardship means sharing, enjoying, and caring for our God-given gifts with others. Help us give financial gifts, volunteer our time or talents, and build meaningful relationships in the community.

FINANCE
Are you good with numbers or interested in investing? Our finance team works with our pastor and council to help manage our budget and leverage investments to best serve our church and community.
COUNCIL
The Good Shepherd Council gives a voice to our congregation. We meet monthly to keep the church running smoothly and discuss the future of our ministry. We always welcome new ideas and concerns for life!
PROPERTY
The Property Committee takes care of the building and grounds. Anyone interested in helping out can contact the office.
FUNDRAISING
Fundraising initiatives support projects within Good Shepherd, in the community, and around the world. We carry out fundraising suggestions from our committee and congregation members.
